Someone Call Hell, We Need A Temperature Check
Student Trustee Candidate Chris Kantas has had, apparently for a while, the endorsement of the College Democrats and a major buttload of the liberal student groups on campus (PRIDE, ACLU, TEAM). Now, via a posting on his campaign's facebook group, comes word that Kantas has picked up the endorsement of the College Republicans.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, Kantas has the support of both major political parties. Hopefully your brain doesn't implode after reading that.
In other trustee campaign-related news, I've been told that Nick Klitzing will most likely not be running, which leaves open the question of which candidate Students for Chief Illiniwek will endorse.
I've also heard that Chuck Prochaska, of the Cartoon Two, has been putting feelers out to run for Student Trustee, but the effect of his membership in that dubious duo has been to deliver a fatal, self-inflicted wound to his political chances on campus.
The candidate status of both these gentlemen (and a few of the other people who have set up sparsely-populated facebook groups) will be determined on Tuesday at noon, which is the filing deadline.
If anyone has campaign information they'd like to share with me (and the more verifiable, the better), feel free to drop me a line via email, or leave a message in the comments. I'm being much more of a rumormonger than I normally am, but that's because campus sources are hard to come by. Any news is appreciated.
