Unsourced Scuttlebutt
Bill Dennis of Peoria Pundit is shitting a brick because Steve Donohue claims that the Daily Illini "has requested that Google remove the cached version of the Muhammad cartoons it ran[.]" Steve doesn't say where he's gotten this information, and Kiyoshi admits in Bill's comments that Steve's ravings are the first he's heard of the matter.
A more likely scenario is that, after the DI made the stupid move of taking down the editorial and cartoons off their website, Google's spiders/crawlers/whatever took the snapshot of the broken page. Then, when Steve decided he wanted to look at the original page and went to the Google Cache, he got the blank page, misinterpreted what he saw, and then blogged about it.
Unless Steve's got some info to back this up, it's a non-story.
Quick UPDATE: After poking around on the Daily Illini site, I found the Editor's Note that ran with the cartoons.
MEANWHILE: If you can stand such self-aggrandizement, Acton Gorton's "Look at all the people who think I'm wonderful" blog is still up. I didn't know one person could have that much bellybutton lint to gaze at.
