Today is The Day
By the end of today, the Chief may be headed out the door. Or he may be just given a severe reprimand. We'll see. I'm hoping for the former myself.
The Daily Illini, whose current running streak of intellectual brilliance is currently astounding me, is running an editorial today calling for the Chief's retirement. The whole thing is good, so I'm not going to exerpt any small fragment of it. Also, predictably, the DI is running point-counterpoint letters to the editor about the issue. My favorite of the two is, suprisingly, the Pro-Chief letter. The author of the letter manages to completely ignore the reasons for changing it and states his personal attachment to the "it's always been that way" arguement. [sarcasm]Way to go and have a critical thought![/sarcasm]
Local blogger Illinigirl couldn't be bothered to do some basic investigation into the topic, for which I smeared her in her comments section. Archpundit appears to be waiting for further developments before commenting more.
I can't find much else of substance in the local papers - I hope to find more later as the news cycle progresses.
